This online module is designed to assist pre-service teachers in developing unit plans and lesson plans that guide instruction in K-12 classrooms. The sections of the module are listed below with brief annotations of the information that follows. Use these sections as needed to supplement or reinforce your learning as you develop unit plans and lesson plans.

Unit Plans Discover the basics about the unit plan and how it relates to planning.
Lesson Plans Read about lesson plans, their role in planning for effective instruction and how they are used in K-12 classrooms. The parts of the lesson plan are explained and examples are given. A template is provided to facilitate the planning process.
Instructional objectives

Find out why instructional objectives are useful for learners and evaluation. Discover the four characteristics that every instructional objective should have.

Writing objectives Get acquainted with the ABCDs of instructional objectives.
Interactive practice Test your skill when writing instructional objectives.
Classify objectives Instructional objectives are classified into three domains: cognitive domain, psychomotor domain, and affective domain. Review explanations of these domains and their importance to lesson planning. Examine Bloom's taxonomy and get acquainted with appropriate verbs in each level of the taxonomy.
Choose instructional methods for lesson plans Review various instructional methods for presenting informaton to students. Each method is explained as well as the advantages and disadvantages of using each.
