In these photographs
what evidence do you see of the teacher’s role in creating
the context for the construction of more elaborate and complex
ideas? What evidence is there that the teacher has deliberately
created a context in which children have the possibility for
deepening their learning?
Have you considered?
The children are using their investigative
minds to study models and photographs.
This model of a crane and this photograph
of the children’s block constructions have been provided
by the teacher to help the children look closely at the details
of models and constructions of cranes. The teacher has made
these provocations accessible and prominent (the magnifying
glass and the photo in plastic sleeve on a vertical stand)
so that the children can easily use them as referents.
