The physical
environment* of a classroom is a powerful mediator that
provokes, extends and deepens children’s learning.
Among the many dimensions of environment, teachers who
document learning must consider the impact of the dynamics
of the physical context(s) on learning.
*Definition of environment
- Environment is
a relational space in which we consider both the social
and physical dimensions of the relationship. For the
purposes of this tenet, the focus will be on the physical
aspects of the environment. The social aspects of environment
are considered in other tenets, particularly in the
Interaction and Collaboration tenet.
