I remember learning
the five key tenets of inquiry-based learning in my early
childhood teacher education classes. For me, inquiry is not
so much seeking the right answer—because often there
is none—but rather seeking relevant and appropriate
resolutions to questions and issues. My teachers and mentors
have nurtured in me the inquiring attitudes and habits of
mind that have helped me be successful in my classroom. I
really hope I can do the same for the children in my classroom.
So, let's get on with the tenets.
Do you remember the five content areas that
make up the key tenets of inquiry-based learning in early
childhood teacher education?
- Physical environment
- Interaction and collaboration
- Symbolic representation
- Role of the Teacher
- Continuity of Experience
In this module, we’ll review
them all. You’ll have the chance to apply the tenets
to your analysis of digital images you’ve taken in your
classroom. I’ll show you some good examples along the
way.
Let’s get started!
