The use of bibliographic management software such as EndNote is becoming increasingly popular with students and faculty. These programs allow users to easily compile libraries of journal and book citations and greatly expedite the creation of reference lists and bibliographies. This online module will provide faculty and students of the entire University of Tennessee system with the basic skills to use the EndNote software. This module will teach instructors and students how to use EndNote to create reading lists and bibliographies for use in online instruction (course web pages or Blackboard) and for research collaboration. In addition, this module will discuss the use of EndNote with citation databases specific to the UT Library system.

Goals:
  • Give users the knowledge they need to build and manipulate an EndNote library of citations.
  • Teach users to automatically pull in bibliographic information from UT Libraries databases as well as freely available databases.
  • Teach users to automatically format and export bibliographies for research, course reading lists, etc. for use in collaborating on research projects and for use in Blackboard or their personal web pages.
