Digital Presentations
The advent of digital technology has made the poster and photographic slide a thing of history.   Today, lecturers and presenters are required to adapt to the digital presentation format.   This module should provide the following for the digital presenter:
  • Be able to design a simple PowerPoint presentation
  • Understand the elements of a presentation
  • Be familiar with different layouts available for PowerPoint slides
  • Recognize the multimedia options for PowerPoint presentations
  • Be able to insert graphics and movies into a PowerPoint presentation
  • Understand the rights of Fair Use as related to copyrighted material
All learning is based on experiences.   This module is no exception.   In order to keep the learning module in a manageable format, a set of skills is assumed to be in the learner's possession:
  • Ability to use a personal computer such that you can open a program and save a file
  • Ability to scan or download material into your computer
  • Ability to open a PowerPoint file
  • Ability to navigate the internet and similar programs

This module is assembled such that you can jump from section to section using the tabs on the top of every page.   Each page, however, has the word
next at the bottom allowing you to move through the section.   Additional navigation instructions may also be given.   Also, certain terms or words in blue type and underlined link to special definition or description pages.   You can always move to the beginning of each section by clicking the tab at the top of the screen with the name of the section.   At the end some of the sections is a brief exam to test your new knowledge.

In order for this module to work, you should have the following hardware (computer) specifications:
Windows or Macintosh operating system with internet access
Display resolution set to
800x600
The software requirements are as follows:
Internet Explorer or Netscape
PowerPoint by Microsoft (for those lacking PowerPoint, PowerPoint viewer is available here by clicking on the address below:
