Introduction

 

 

 

 

The purpose of this module is to help instructors develop online collaborative learning instruction using Blackboard, a web-based instructional delivery tool. This module provides basic tips and techniques of using the Blackboard communication tools to facilitate collaborative learning. The module is organized into five sections.

  • Section one presents an introduction and module objectives.
  • Section two discusses collaborative learning and the strategies for applying this learning approach in computer-mediated online environment.
  • Section three highlights how Blackboard supports collaborative learning. The section also describes how various communication tools featured in Blackboard can be used to facilitate collaboration among learners.
  • Section four describes various strategies for collaborative learning instruction using different communication tools in Blackboard.
  • The last section provides the relevant resources on collaborative learning.

Tips:

  1. You may want to go through this module sequentially or jump to a particular section. To move forwards and backwards within a section click Next or Previous button located on the upper right corner.
  2. To jump from one section to another section click the appropriate button in the navigation bar above. In the navigation bar, there are five buttons respective to each section of the module.
