There are currently over one billion health-related web pages on the Internet, and this number continues to grow daily. This increasing amount of easily accessible information elicits a need for skills that enable effective, efficient searches of the Internet and evaluation and retrieval of quality information. Presently there is an absence of training resources for searching and evaluating online resources for health information. This module offers this education at no cost and allows participants to learn the material at a time convenient to them and in a time efficient manner. This module is a tutorial intended for University of Tennessee students, faculty, and staff across all campuses that access health information through the Internet. It may be of particular interest to personnel involved in Public Health and Agricultural Extension Services and to health care preceptors and faculty throughout the state. It will provide interactive lessons that communicate and demonstrate how to search the Internet and evaluate retrieved health information. The goal of this module is to equip University of Tennessee faculty, staff, and students with the skills necessary to identify, retrieve, and evaluate medical information available on the Internet.
