Training AdministratorAs educators, we are faced with challenge of incorporating technology into our teaching. How do you use technology to enhance your teaching? PowerPoint is an easy-to-use technology tool because its all in one package features allow the educator to customize clipart and images, add interactive hyper-linked buttons or images and convert to html. Driven by technology, web-based instruction has become an integral part of the classroom. Many universities purchase the Microsoft Office suite that contains PowerPoint. By using the many built in features of PowerPoint an educator can easily and inexpensively create a web-based instructional module for their class. This module helps faculty, GTAs, GAs, and staff develop skills and knowledge to create an instructional module by demonstrating how to:
- Plan and chunk content into specific sections
- Determine navigation or content flow for user
- Define the different types of navigation
- Linear
- Hierarchical
- Create custom navigation scheme
- Use of visual icons as buttons to navigate content
- Create a template using clipart and text for
- Main Menu
- Main Content Section
- Complete navigation by adding hyper-links to images and connect main sections and main menu
To reinforce demonstrations, a practice activity is included after each
section. After completing all sections, participants may take a quiz with
feedback to complete the module.
