Overview

The current generation of students are accustomed to the instant gratification provided through their life-long exposure to computer technology and the Internet. This raises a challenge to the applicability of traditional lecture format instruction. The use of Course Management Systems such as Blackboard improve our ability to provide the type of instant feedback that students are accustomed to, but adding variety to course delivery might also improve retention of content and student interest.

Although the general concept of life-long exposure to computer-based technologies causing students to become disinterested in traditional course delivery methods may be valid, there are certainly differences among students in their approach to learning. With this in mind, we are interested in determining how different personality types respond to various course content delivery methods and types of content mastery evaluation.

The goal of this study will be to see if different personality types perform better on specific types of evaluations or master materials presented in specific ways. We will then explore modifying course delivery and evaluation methods in the future to better fit personality types represented in the class.
